As president of the Ormond JETS Basketball Club I would like to pay tribute to Alison Cody and the staff of the McKinnon Basketball Association.

This has been a very difficult, and tumultuous week with the very very sad passing of the MBA President Marty Handson and the sudden incorporation of the GESAC competitions into the MBA. To manage all of this at once shows true strength of character, dedication, professionalism and a genuine passion for this amazing sport.

The clubs of the MBA have been waiting patiently for a number of years for common sense to prevail in the local basketball community. It has been brought about by an unfortunate sequence of events; however to be finally playing at GESAC is a just outcome for the MBA. Hopefully one that will now remain in place for many years to come.

I am sure that this hugely successful weekend would have a brought a proud smile to Marty. It certainly did for me.
