JETS' Update : Prior to Round 1

9 Oct by Peter Wilkins

Parents / Members

Welcome to another Summer season of basketball with the JETS. It has been an incredibly busy period leading up to this weekend. Thankyou for your patience as we had to get everything ready. We have a record 118 junior teams, 7 senior teams and nearly 1000 players on the court!

The fixtures are up and visible in the MyHoops app and the McKinnon Basketball Association website. If you are unsure which division your team is in, you can most easily find your team via TeamApp fixtures at

https://ormondjets.teamapp.com/fixtures?_list=v1

The coordinators have nominated divisions to the best of their knowledge; however the MBA have on some occasions made their own judgements. This is the most difficult time to get grading right, due to the change in top and bottom ages. There will be 4 rounds of grading (at least). In some divisions it may go out to 5 or 6 weeks. So, please bear with the grading process; There will be some lopsided results on the plus or minus side. Feel free to feedback to your coordinator if you see glaring errors with teams.

Some team names are yet to reflect the updated coach’s names as the MBA locked PlayHQ to undertake grading and fixturing. We will request the outstanding team name changes next week There is at least one new venue being used, Moorabbin Primary; so, allow extra time if you don’t know the venues well.

Thank you to those who came to pick up uniforms last Sunday morning. Overall, it was successful although a bit chaotic at times. We have definitely learned from the experience and will be better organised next time.

The priority for the club this weekend is to successfully get everyone on court with at least a JETS singlet. We had over 150 new players this Summer plus a lot of uniform changes. A number of shorts are on back order. Shorts can be plain and dark during grading. There is still a lot to be done in this space. Tomorrow and Saturday will be very busy. Singlets are the highest priority to be made available. If we are unable to get a singlet to you in time, then please wear a black or green t-shirt / top and plain shorts. The referees should be accommodating.

For those still waiting on uniforms, we will be in touch as soon as we have uniforms (singlets in particular) ready to pick up. There have been numerous cases where parents believed they had ordered uniforms in PlayHQ but it did not come through with the registration. Please check your receipt from registration in PlayHQ. The only way to order uniforms now, and most likely into the future, is via the TeamApp store. Any queries please email uniforms@ormondjets.com.au

While on TeamApp, unfortunately the access groups have not been populated yet. I expect the data extract and load will happen from PlayHQ early next week. In the meantime, I reinforce that each parent should have an active TeamApp account, especially as all communication from the club, and uniform purchases, will only be via TeamApp in the future.

As always, any general enquiries should go to our new administrator Nadya at admin@ormondjets.com.au or your coordinator.

Enjoy your season and GO JETS
