JETS Members

It is with pleasure that I announce as a result of the JETS AGM held last night, that Debbie Shagam is the new President of the Ormond JETS and Kate Elix is the new Vice President. I feel blessed as the outgoing President to have Deb (and Kate) as my successors and be prepared to step into the Executive roles.

I have absolute respect and admiration for both these ladies and am 100% sure that they will take the club forward, continue to make the JETS a destination club, while maintaining our core values of community, friendship and fun.

This has come about after period of self-reflection and realisation that I no longer have the drive and energy that the club deserves to have as President. It has been a tough emotional decision for me, but I think is the right thing for my own well-being and the club going forward.

It is with an enormous sense of accomplishment and pride that I have been President, since Melinda and I founded the club in September 2009. I can’t say it has always been fun, but to put the amazing number of teams together each season, to have such as strong respected presence in the community, and to see the JETS kids on court or out in the neighbourhood wearing their uniform is still so very personally satisfying. While players and parents come and go, the club is always greater than any individual, me included.

My sincere thanks to all the current, past committee members and parents who have supported me and the club over more than 16 years. Thank you to my 4 kids who have each been a huge support and inspiration, and especially thankyou to Melinda, (aka the ‘the first lady’); who I blame for all of this, 😊 but could not possibly have done what I have without. Melinda and I will forever treasure the Life Membership awards we received from the Club in 2019.

NOTE: I have not left the club entirely. Sorry to disappoint 😊. I am sticking around for the time being as U16 Boys Coordinator and coach. This is still a passion of mine; so you will continue to see my aging body in JETS colours around the traps.
